Latest Survey: Back-to-School 2015

The New Faculty Majority Foundation aims to be a clearinghouse for existing information about contingent faculty; to identify gaps in existing research on the role of contingent faculty in higher education; and to conduct original research on needed topics.
The first original research project of the NFM Foundation is a Back-to-School survey of contingent faculty hiring practices.  Conducted during the opening weeks of the Fall 2011 term, it generated data from non-tenure-track faculty on their current teaching and employment status, hiring conditions, access to teaching materials and resources, and opinions regarding how teaching conditions affect student learning.

Preliminary analysis of the survey was included in a major report for the Center for the Future of Higher Education.
